Diana and I were on the way to an outdoor concert to see Lynyrd Skynyrd. Fortunately where the concert is, you can bring lawn chairs, sit outside the outside amphitheater and not have to pay. As we walked toward the concert area, one guy was whispering, “Need one ticket.” I replied, “Were you looking to scalp?” He said that this was a great way for him to negotiate a cheaper ticket to a show without having to pay the $60 entry fee. With such high prices for concert tickets, his approach to offer to pay $30 to someone who is trying to recoup some of their cost just may work.
If you don’t want to take a chance at the venue, Craigslist is also another possibility for finding same day or next day tickets for local concerts, events or even museum tours. (But when using Craigslist and other local classifieds, I would suggest meeting in high traffic, public places only, and be sure the tickets are genuine).
So next time there is concert you are just dying to see but don’t want to pay full price, think about different approaches you can take to make it happen!
